SRI MAHALINGESWARA TEMPLE, PUTTUR

This temple is the oldest temple in Puttur. It has the inscribed slab of the time of Vijayanagara king Pratap Devaraya (Shaka year 1353).
Festivals: Shivarathri in February, Annual festival in April, Ganesha Chaturthi in August, Navarathri in October, Lakshadeepotsava in December.
Dhanu Pooja: Morning 5:30 AM. Dec 16th to Jan 14th.

SRI SAHASRALINGESWARA TEMPLE, UPPINANGADI

Pooja Timings : 7-30 a.m., 12 Noon, 7 p.m. | Tel. : 08251 251015 | Distance: 12 kms

Built at the confluence of the Nethravathi and Kumaradhara rivers the temple, regarded as Southern Kashi, is situated 12 kms. Away from Puttur and 55 kms. From Mangalore. The Nethravathi river will be ferocious in rainy season. In summer, it provides many cool locations near Uppinangady, on the side of Bangalore – Mangalore NH 48. In those locations, as water level drops in summer, you can see a lot of patches with little water. They are excellent spots for relaxing and swimming. Between 4 PM and 7 PM is the best time to enjoy them. The greatest advantage is that you can choose your own spot, where other tourists don’t come.

BENDRU THEERTHA

Distance: 15 kms from Hotel

Natural pool is 15 kms from Hotel and 65 kms south of Mangalore on Panje road. When you move along Seere river, 1 km towards south, you reach a small pool called Bendru Theertha. It was a hot water spring, but now it is dry. How to reach: Several private buses run from Puttur. Get down at Irde, from where a small mud road leads you to the pool.

JAMBRI CAVE

Distance: 15 kms from Hotel

Situated 15 kms from Hotel. Start from Arlapadavu in Panje Village and take rough road going through Bantaje forest to Mannangala. Jambri Cave is located between Arlapadavu and Mannangala. This place has not been developed as a tourist spot. It is a journey for those who seek an adventure.

Distance: 55 kms from Hotel

Situated in the eastern part of the Sullia taluk. The place is covered with evergreen forests, beautiful mountains, rivulets and streams. Well-connected by road from Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and Kerala. Convenient route to Subramanya from Mangalore is via Uppinangady

KUMARA PARVATHA

Distance: 55 kms from Hotel.

This Hill is 4,000 ft. Above sea level. It attracts the trekkers to explore its rough terrain and thick forests. It can be reached by walk from Subramanya town. Though Bisle Ghat, where the district borders of Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Hassan meet, a tough 26 kms. trek through the forest takes you to the top of Kumara Parvatha. If you are coming from Somavarpete (Kodagu), you can come in vehicle till Kundalli. Then you have to walk through Hegade Mane. In a single day you can complete the trek. Locally this is called ‘Pushpagiri’ or ‘hill of flowers’.

DHARMASTHALA

Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala is a unique centre of pilgrimage in Karnataka. Thousands of devotees visit this temple town every day to offer prayer to Lord Manjunatha Swamy, the presiding deity for their well-being and prosperity. Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala symbolises the unity of faiths in an unusual manner. A Shiva shrine where the archakas are Vaishinavites and the Dharmahikari Heggade is a Jain, make a unique combination signifying harmony of all religions. Dharmasthala is a religion, charitable and cultural centre. All the four types of charities (Chaturvidha Dana, Anna Dana, Aushadha Dana, Vidya Dana and Abhaya Dana) are held here. Dharma has acquired a multi-dimensional meaning here apart from its traditional connotation like religion, ritual formality, righteousness, duty. Alms, etc. Annapoorna, a place where a food is served free to thousands of devotees is a marvel of charity and organisation. Unique rural development programme of Shri Kshetra completed in 27 years in 2009. It benefits more than a lakh families. SIRI is a production unit of village women benefited by programme. Rooms are available to the visitors at various Guest houses.
